MEMBER SECTIONS Welcome to the Organized Medical Staff Section of the Medical Society of the State of New York. OMSS is MSSNY’s grassroots physician organization, composed of representatives from organized medical staffs in hospitals, IPAs, POs, nursing homes, integrated delivery systems and managed care plans. If you deal with a hospital, it’s a mistake not to belong to OMSS! We keep you informed, and we can help your medical staff organization stay effective and strong. Current Key Issues: • Ensuring that control of the quality and safety of care, treatment, and services provided to patients resides with physicians • The Joint Commission Board of Commissioners unanimously approved proposed revisions to accreditation standard MS.01.01.01 on March 12, 2010. Date for implementation is March 31, 2011, which means that the standard will be surveyed for compliance beginning April 1, 2011. For further information, go to Joint Commission Online and FAQs.
