Bill to Expand Wrongful Death Statute Opposed by MSSNY

The Medical Society of the State of New York and several other specialty societies oppose legislation before state lawmakers that would expand the state’s wrongful death statute and make it easier for people to file such claims over issues including emotional damages. “Our concerns with this proposal remain unchanged — the staggering increase in liability insurance costs on top of our already unaffordable liability premiums without the inclusion of any balancing measure to contain these costs,” MSSNY and other organizations wrote in a memo.
