Mount Sinai Ends Downtown Family Medicine Program, Raising Concerns for Primary Care

Mount Sinai Health System is discontinuing a family medicine residency program in Lower Manhattan due to financial constraints. This program, a partnership with the Institute for Family Health, has trained primary care doctors in an urban setting. The closure raises concerns about the future of primary care services in this area, especially for low-income patients who rely on these services. The program’s Residents—along with the New York Society of Family Practitioners—are coordinating a campaign to prevent the program’s closure.
