MSSNY Treasurer: Congress Must Act to Make Medicare Sustainable

Medicare payment cuts over the past two-plus decades, combined with skyrocketing inflation and practice costs, are leading to serious consequences for smaller practices and individual physicians, as well as patients, writes Dr. Gregory Pinto, treasurer of the Medical Society of the State of New York and chairman of the New York delegation to the American Medical Association. The bipartisan Preserving Seniors’ Access to Physicians Act would be a step toward Medicare reform and ensure fair compensation, and “it’s imperative that Congress steps in to put our system on a more sustainable path,” Pinto writes.
