
Opinion: Lawmakers must pass Medical Aid in Dying Act
The Medical Aid in Dying Act, which is supported by more than 50 organizations including the Medical Society of the State of New York, has been pending for a decade in New York, and it’s imperative that lawmakers pass the legislation, writes David Leven of End of Life Choices New York, who adds that “medical aid in dying is a compassionate, safe, effective and ethical end-of-life option.” Leven notes that 11 other jurisdictions have successfully implemented similar laws and that a February poll shows that 72% of New Yorkers support the measure.
