MSSNY Joins in Urging Action to Stop Physician Pay Cut

In a letter to congressional leaders, the Medical Society of the State of New York joined the American Medical Association, 49 other state medical associations and nearly 70 national specialty medical associations urging immediate passage of H.R. 2474, the “Strengthening Medicare for Patients and Providers Act.” The measure would implement a Medicare physician pay increase formula tied to real and growing physician practice expenses. Physician payment rates were cut this year and are slated to be reduced by another 3% on Jan. 1 unless action is taken, with MSSNY noting that New York physicians already face some of the highest expenses in the nation, including for medical liability insurance.
